In January 2015, when Lithuania changed from the litas to the euro, queues formed at post offices as customers hurried to exchange cash. Lithuania Post asked for public understanding and stressed that the exchange period was long enough to avoid a rush. The central bank recorded about 672,000 exchange operations in the first thirteen days. A national currency change thus appeared in daily life as a wait to replace the money in people’s wallets.
