In May 2026, dozens of sugarcane trucks formed a line hundreds of metres long along a road in Todanan, Blora Regency, Central Java. They were waiting to be weighed at a privately operated scale before selling their loads to collectors. The facility had become an alternative outlet after the nearby PT GMM sugar mill stopped operating. Once weighed, the cane was transferred to larger articulated trucks for shipment to mills in the Madiun area. The price was 610 rupiah per kilogram, but insufficient parking pushed the queue onto a provincial road, prompting residents' complaints and creating a traffic hazard. After mediation involving transport officials, police, village representatives, and the operator, waiting trucks were to be moved to a village field. This queue made a broken supply chain visible: one scale had replaced the entrance to a closed factory, and its limited throughput spilled directly onto the public road.
