On 6 April 2019, residents of Nhagau in central Mozambique waited for food aid after Cyclone Idai. A dated U.S. military public-information photo series records people sitting as they waited and describes the men waiting behind the women for distribution. While they waited, village authorities stacked Corn Soy Blend, a fortified food, inside a building.
This was not a single standing line. In the outdoor heat after a disaster, villagers kept a distribution order while seated and grouped. Relief supplies do not reach every hand the moment they arrive. Unloading, storage and allocation still have to happen, and people's bodies become the final waiting place in that chain. The scene makes visible the human time at the end of humanitarian logistics.
