In July 2015, while Greek banks were closed, selected branches opened temporarily so pensioners could receive up to 120 euros for the week. Reuters reported elderly customers waiting for hours in long lines at about 1,000 designated branches.

What distinguishes this queue is that age and pension status determined who could enter the same banking system. Even with money in an account, ordinary access had stopped; a limited amount for daily life was released only through an ordered place at a special counter.
