On 27 June 2023, ahead of Eid al-Adha, long lines formed at both ticket counters and gates at Kamalapur station in Dhaka. Advance seats had sold online, while standing tickets equal to 25 percent of the lowest-class allocation were sold shortly before departure.
What distinguishes this case is that the queue to board was preceded by a queue for a ticket that did not include a seat. Digital advance sales did not eliminate waiting at the station; they concentrated it around the small remaining allocation of standing places.
